Two tests of skin texture technique - around the outer eye I used a toothpick, a sliced ear bud and a brush lightly soaked with mineral (baby) oil. The toothpick allowed me to drag the lines and not create huge cut marks or furrows. The bridge of the nose is less successful - I used an angled wooden dowel and a scalpel - the lines here are too uniform.

Still think the final stage will be to make urethane moulds to press into skin surfaces.
